The EU invest heavily in innovation projects for a circular economy. This event, that took place on March 24th, gave access to a wide range of EU-funded circular economy innovation projects and deep-dived on what this may mean for you. During this event we brought together policy makers, representatives from industry and academia who communicated on a wide range of EU-funded innovations to contribute to a circular economy.

Learn about innovations in the following areas:

  • Innovative recycling
  • Plastics and textile circularity
  • Green automotive innovations

THE RECORDING

After the opening each EU project will give a presentation guided by the following questions:

  • overall objective of the project and timelines
  • what innovation is the project about
  • what will this project change in our future economy
  • what is the status of the project on achievements and upcoming progress.

EU-funded circular economy innovation projects that present themselves in this online event

ALMA Logo

ALMA

ALMA will develop a novel battery electric vehicle (BEV) structure for a passenger car with 45% weight reduction potential compared to current baseline at affordable costs.

MultiCycle Logo

Multicycle

MultiCycle will deliver an industrial recycling pilot plant for fossil and bio-based thermoplastic multilayer packaging and fibre reinforced composites using a novel solvent based selective extraction process which allows recovering pure plastics and additives in mixed wastes for their later reprocessing into value-added applications.

Decoat Logo

DECOAT

DECOAT will enable circular use of textiles and plastic parts with (multilayer) ‘coatings’, which are typically not recyclable yet. Novel triggerable smart polymer material systems and the corresponding recycling processes will be developed.

MultiCycle Logo

NewCotton

Over a three-year period, textile waste is collected and sorted, and regenerated into a new, man-made cellulosic fiber that looks and feels like cotton – a “new cotton” – using Infinited Fiber Company’s textile fiber regeneration technology.

CisuFlo

CISUFLO’s overall goal is to minimize the environmental impact of the EU flooring sector, by setting up a systemic framework for circular and sustainable floor coverings taking into account both technical feasibility and socio-economic factors.

ALMA Logo

Remadyl

REMADYL aims at recycling the so-called “old PVC”, i.e. PVC additivated with hazardous legacy substances (LS).  This “old PVC” constitutes most of current hard (e.g. window frames, tubes) and soft (e.g. flooring or cables) PVC post-consumer waste. Recovered PVC will reduce incineration and landfilling.

LEVIS

LEVIS’ aim is to develop lightweight components for electric vehicles using eco-design and circular approaches. Our consortium – built by industrial and research partners from seven countries – envisages to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of producing these components in three real-case demonstrators at a large scale: a suspension arm, a battery box set and a cross car beam.

HereWear

HEREWEAR aims for a holistic approach to establishing a market in the EU for locally-produced textiles made from locally-sourced bio-based materials
