Task Force on Greenhouse Gases

ISWA, recognising that Greenhouse Gas Emissions represent a major environmental problem facing our planet today, established a Task Force on the subject as of November 2007. The TF examined and made recommendations on a range of issues arising from the interaction between waste management and greenhouse gas emissions.

The TF on Greenhouse Gases (TFGHG) had as its first objective to prepare a White Paper to be distributed around the same date as the COP 15, the Conference of Parties meeting number 15 on global climate change in Copenhagen, December 2009. A work plan was established and consisted of several workshops and conferences that took place throughout the year in different locations, culminating with a conference in Copenhagen on GHG and Waste Management and the ISWA White Paper on GHG.
