ISWA was once again present at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, representing the international waste management sector at the Circular Economy Conference. Across the three days (13 to 15 January 2026) WFES welcomed more than 50,000 attendees, 450+ exhibiting companies, and 300+ expert speakers to the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. ISWA’s Technical Lead, Mostafa Ahmed, together with Mohab Ali Talib Al-Hinai, Vice President of Sustainability and Circular Economy from Beeah (ISWA National Member of Oman), contributed to the panel discussion “Unlocking demand, supply, and profit with a circularity marketplace” at the Circular Economy Conference, held as part of the WFES.

Mostafa shared insights on how growing market traction and technological progress can be scaled through policy coherence and enforcement, harmonized end-of-waste and secondary raw material standards, capacity building for waste operators, and strong data and transparency frameworks. The discussion addressed the need to monetize environmental benefits and internalize externalities to enable circularity marketplaces to scale.

The event also provided a valuable opportunity for Mostafa Ahmed to engage in discussions with ISWA members from the region, like ISWA National Member Tadweer, represented by Oliver Lawson and Sara Moussa, and Beeah, represented by Rafael Sanjurjo (ISWA Board Representative for Organisational Members). Through active engagement in global forums such as this, ISWA underlines the importance of such platforms for strengthening connections with our members.
