A strategic communicator, sustainability advocate, and leading corporate affairs with 15+ years of experience driving impact at the intersection of waste management, circular economy, and public engagement. At be’ah, Essam oversees external and internal communications, stakeholder relations, ESG-aligned initiatives, and national awareness campaigns that promote environmental stewardship.
As Chairperson of ISWA’s Working Group on Communication & Social Issues, he is passionate about connecting global waste management strategies to local action. His journey includes leading award-winning campaigns, co-organising the 2023 ISWA World Congress in Muscat, and helping establish ISWA’s Middle East Regional Chapter.

With a solid foundation in communication and leadership, Anna-Carin brings the expertise, drive, and collaborative mindset needed to initiate impactful projects, engage stakeholders, and elevate communication efforts within the ISWA and among its members.
Whether steering internal and external communication, serving as a trusted advisor to CEOs and boards, or leading teams through change, she thrives on bringing people together and empowering them to contribute to shared goals. She truly understands different nuances in professional communication, public relations, and long-term advocacy.
Anna-Carin is the Head of Communications at Avfall Sverige, the main member-driven waste and recycling organization in Sweden, with more than 400 members from both the public and private sector. One key challenge is ensuring that all members move in the same direction. In her role, she acts as both an official spokesperson and a mediator, with the purpose of uniting and communicating diverse interests.
