Energy Recovery

The Working Group on Energy Recovery (WGER) addresses the energy recovery from municipal solid waste, comprising the combustion processes, the efficient production of energy, the control of emissions and the handling of residues. Johnny Stuen started at KANFA ( a Technip Energies company) in march 2022, where he is responsible for developing energy transition projects within carbon capture, hydrogen and related technologies.

He worked at the Waste Agency , City of Oslo, from 2007 until February 2022.  He was responsible for operation, technology strategy and development of the treatment plants for municipal waste in the City of Oslo.  Oslo has optical sorting facilities, one biological treatment/ biogas production and two waste to energy plants. 

He holds a Masters degree in process technology, and has worked in several industrial companies producing chemicals, insulation and foodstuff before he joined the Waste Agency in 2007.  He has lead the national working group on energy recovery in Norway (Avfall Norge), and since 2010 has been a member the ISWA (International Solid Waste Association) working group for energy recovery,  and since spring 2017 he has chaired the same group.

He was a part of the initial team at Klemetsrud CCS project, working for the project until autumn 2019. He has also been involved since the start in 2016 and a board member of the Norwegian Carbon Capture research program since 2018 until February 2022.

Engineer graduated from Mines Paris Tech (France), Christophe CORD’HOMME has more than 30 years of experience in the Environment and Renewable Energy industries, especially in municipal waste treatment, air pollution control & renewable energy production (ANDRA, ENTROPIE, CNIM, LAB).

Former Deputy General Manager for LAB S.A and Development Director for CNIM Group, he managed complex key Waste-to-Energy projects in Europe and developed innovation and market intelligence for the sector. He created in 2022 his consulting company WasteTT (Waste Thermal Treatment) S.A.S. proposing resource recovery expertise. With this industrial experience, he published many papers and is invited as a recognized “world-class” speaker and panellist to several international conferences per year about renewable energy and environment. Lecturer in Master Environment at University Sorbonne Paris Nord.

France representant as National member of the General Assembly of ISWA, he was elected Vice Chair of the Working Group Energy Recovery of ISWA.
