3D Future Forum – Sustainable Cities, Waste & Circularity

In preparation for the 30th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP30), ISWA is supporting a high-level event to advance the international collaboration on the transformational change needed to transition to a world economy that Decouples growth from waste generation, Decarbonises and Decontaminates.

The 3D Future Forum: Sustainable Cities, Waste and Circularity: Pathways to a 3D Future

Sustainable cities are cities that set high ambitions on waste prevention and waste sorting for valorisation, as well as ensure they provide for the collection and safe final disposal of the waste that cannot be avoided nor recycled. Implementing these waste management strategies can unleash a mitigation potential of up to 20% of global emissions. However, their full implementation requires a transition from the 3Rs (Reduce, Recycle, Recover) to reshaping business models and the global economy to achieve the 3Ds: Decouple growth from waste generation, Decarbonise and Decontaminate the economies.

This high-level forum will serve as a platform for local authorities, national governments, private sector leaders, and financiers to share challenges, best practices, and opportunities for collaboration in shaping projects that contribute to this ambitious transition. It aims to identify synergies, strengthen partnerships, and accelerate action towards sustainable and circular urban development.

Anticipated High-Level Attendance (Invitation Only):

  • Cities and local authorities

  • Private sector executives

  • Development banks and financial institutions
