These conferences address key regulatory\, technological\, and operational challenges\, including the Circular Economy Summit\, industrial emissions in the European Union\, environmental challenges and solutions in Central and South-Eastern Europe\, municipal water management\, and remediation in Eastern and Central Europe and the Western Balkans.\n\nISWA-related conference with ISWA participationLandfilling – the ultimate solution? 8 October 2026 | 10:00–15:00 (GMT+1)\nThis conference examines the role of landfilling within contemporary waste management systems\, with a focus on technical\, legal\, and economic instruments to reduce disposal and align practice with circular economy objectives. Sessions will cover BAT requirements\, landfill design\, operation and aftercare\, environmental impact management\, reclamation\, and the potential of landfills as waste treatment facilities and sources of secondary raw materials. The programme includes an open Regional Chapter meeting with the participation of the leadership of the ISWA Landfill Working Group\, offering ISWA members a global perspective on current trends alongside an in-depth discussion of regional challenges and forthcoming priorities.\nISWA members are invited to engage in this expert dialogue\, contribute to the regional exchange of knowledge\, and connect with peers at ENVIRONTEC in Budapest this October.
