DESCRIPTION:Click here for more information about INC-5\n			\n			 \n				\n				\n				\n				Read ISWA's key messages                                                                                     for INC-5                                                                           \n			\n			 \n				\n				\n			 \n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				The fifth and final session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5) to develop an internationally legally binding instrument on plastic pollution will be held from 25 November to 1 December 2024 \,at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) in Busan\, Republic of Korea.\nThe session will be preceded by regional consultations on 24 November 2024. The fifth session of the INC will take place fully in-person. \nPursuant to United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) resolution 5/14 entitled “End plastic pollution: Towards an international legally binding instrument”\, the participation in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) is open to all Member States of the United Nations or Members of its specialized agencies\, to regional economic integration organizations\, and to relevant Observers\, consistent with applicable United Nations rules. In the same resolution\, UNEA requested the Executive Director to facilitate the participation of\, and close cooperation and coordination with\, relevant regional and international instruments and initiatives and all relevant stakeholders in the context of the mandate of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee.\nISWA and Ocean Recovery Alliance will be hosting a side event “Facilitating Global Circularity of Plastic Feedstock with Standardized\, Verified and Trusted Trade Procedures.”  with the Korean Ministry of Environment\, and their “Rethinking Plastic Life” side events. This session will feature speakers from civil society\, industry and member state to discuss how the simplification of the movement of legitimate material as feedstock can support the global circular economy for plastic via both the new UN Plastic Treaty and the existing Basel Convention Framework.
