15 Jan 2019 -

IETC’s vision is for countries to implement sustainable solutions to environmental challenges, with focus on holistic waste management.

In order to realise this scope, IETC provides technical and advisory support to national and local governments to enhance their use of environmentally sound strategies and approaches. In addition to governments, IETC works with academia, civil society and the private sector and provides learning opportunities around the world as well as organize public outreach activities, expert groups and policy dialogues.

The International Advisory Board of the International Environmental Technology Centre has been established for the purpose of providing the Director of International Environmental Technology Centre with policy-level and technical advice on the strategic direction and content of the programme of work of the centre. The International Advisory Board consists of members with various backgrounds including senior policy advisors with policy expertise and well-regarded technical experts covering major geographical regions. All the distinguished members of the International Advisory Board can be found at here.

Joining IETC’s Advisory Board is a big honour for ISWA and me personally. From this position I will work hard to promote ISWA’s global campaigns to close the world’s dumpsites and to prevent marine litter. In addition, I think UNEP’s IETC is the right channel for a coordinated effort to upgrade the importance of waste management in the global agenda and stimulate the required infrastructure investments in the developing world”, commented ISWA President Antonis Mavropoulos.
