ISWA Announces Arrival of New Communications Manager

ISWA Announces the New Communications Manager to Join the General Secretariat Team in the Netherlands

6 Nov 2019 -

ISWA is pleased to announce that after a carefully evaluated recruitment process, Ms Georgiana Olivier has been appointed the next ISWA Communications Manager and will be based at ISWA’s new headquarters in the Netherlands.

Following the decision to move the seat of the International Solid Waste Association to Rotterdam announced at the ISWA World Congress 2018 in Kuala Lumpur, ISWA Managing Director, Arne Ragossnig, launched a recruitment process for the next ISWA Communications Manager to facilitate a smooth transition to the new location.

After receiving many impressive applications for the position, Ms Georgiana Olivier was selected as the most suitable candidate to steer the communications department at ISWA General Secretariat into a new chapter under the incoming Managing Director, Mr Marc Tijhuis, appointed in August 2019.

Ms Olivier has a Bachelors in Communications and Media, and will shortly receive her Masters in Media and Business from Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she specialized in non-governmental communications. She previously worked for the International Water Association (IWA), an association for water professionals from around the world including national utilities, large companies, and even universities, and is well-versed in the area of association communications. This past year, whilst she completed her masters, she managed the development and implementation of the marketing, communications, branding, and digital strategies at Napton Cidery. Ms Olivier will be bringing to the table advanced brand management, project management and CRM skills, which will be crucial in the next year’s plans for the Association.

“The selection process was interesting and challenging because we had a very clear idea of who and what skills were needed to fit with the requirements of the position, as well as the challenges ISWA will be facing next year. We are deep in the transition period and I am confident that Georgiana will hit the ground running and exceed our expectations,” commended Mr Tijhuis. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Aneta Pawlik, the former ISWA Communications Manager, who joined the company at a very difficult time and managed to not only maintain a high level of support for our Members and external partners, but also significantly improved the way ISWA’s communication work was conducted. I wish her all the best in the future!”.

Georgiana began her assignment on the 1st of November 2019 and is currently going through the handover process.
