Task Force on Resource Management

In June 2014 ISWA has established the Task Force on Resource Management to investigate the contribution that the Waste Management Sector can offer to the Circular Economy and to identify the barriers and challenges that need to be overcome to support the transition from waste management to resource management.

The scope of the Task Force is resource and waste management, including determining the contribution the Waste Management Sector is already making to the Circular Economy/Resource Management, the recovery and use of secondary raw materials, fuels and energy, as well as nutrients soil and carbon matter in developed countries with reasonably advanced waste management systems.

The main focus will be on the deliveries of goods by the waste management sector and the market interfaces between waste management on one side and the manufacturing and agricultural value chains on the other.

A Special Session on Resource Management was held at the ISWA World Congress in Sao Paulo in 2014 which introduced the Task Force.

The final Special Session at the World Congress 2015 in Antwerp will serve as the official forum to present the work of the Task Force on Resource Management and seek for feedback from the invited experts and the audience.

The Final Report of the ISWA Task Force on Resource Management will be launched later this year.
