Job description 

Within the Business Development team, you will play a key role in the evaluation, development, and optimisation of biogas recovery projects. Working closely with internal teams, clients, and landfill site partners, you will provide your technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from opportunity analysis to monitoring the performance of operational facilities. 

For projects under development: 

• Conduct technical audits and preliminary checks of new projects, including site visits, biogas generation modelling, assessment of gas collection and control systems and analysis of existing infrastructure. 

• Develop biogas valorisation scenarios over 20 years to assess production potential, future needs for gas collection systems, required infrastructure and project economics. 

• Evaluate OPEX/CAPEX requirements, technical constraints and development needs of gas gathering systems to support project viability, risk analysis and investment decisions. 

• Prepare structured technical reports, models and recommendations to document findings, support decisions and organise project development priorities. 

• Support business development efforts by providing technical input on opportunities, helping to maintain strong client relationships, and providing practical recommendations to clients, internal leaders, and multidisciplinary teams. 

For projects in operation or under construction: 

• Diagnose the performance of gas collection and control systems, biogas generation and collection efficiency, by combining field observations, data analysis and comparison of actual results with pro forma assumptions and performance targets. 

• To carry out or support well adjustments, operational diagnostics and field tests to identify concrete improvements to increase methane capture, GNR production and WAGABOX® performance. 

• Implement effective field solutions in collaboration with landfill site owner teams, operators, clients and internal teams, and then ensure rigorous follow-up of corrective actions. 

• Support initiatives to reduce emissions, mitigate methane and ensure regulatory compliance related to biogas management and RNG production. 

• Structure field findings, corrective actions and performance monitoring into clear reports and action plans shared with owners, operators, clients and internal teams. 

This position requires regular travel to landfill sites across Canada to conduct audits, diagnostics, field observations, well adjustment follow-ups, and implementation support. Remote work or on-site work at the head office in Shawinigan is possible. The objective is to maximise gas capture, reduce development risks, and deliver predictable renewable natural gas (RNG) performance. 

The main tasks are in French for sites in Quebec and in English for sites outside Quebec. To communicate easily with our English-speaking clients and suppliers, as well as with other subsidiaries, a good knowledge of English is essential. 

 

Your profile 

Initial training: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (environment, process, mechanical, biochemical or related discipline), or experienced technician with strong field expertise and in the design of biogas collection systems. 

Experience(s): Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in waste management, landfill site operation, biogas collection systems or related infrastructure.
