Anke Bockreis to become Waste Management & Research Senior Editor-in-Chief

The International Solid Waste Association is proud to announce that from January 2022 onwards, Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anke Bockreis from the University of Innsbruck will be taking on the role of Senior Editor-In-Chief of Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy (WM&R).

Anke Bockreis is a full professor for Waste Treatment and Resource Management at the University of Innsbruck in Austria since 2009. In her work, she deals with various issues of waste prevention, waste recycling and the sustainable use of resources in order to aid climate protection. Her special focus is on the biological and mechanical-biological waste treatment as well as on the determination of the emissions from waste treatment plants and their reduction.

Anke Bockreis holds a degree in civil engineering and made her PhD with the topic of monitoring of biofilters in 2001. She worked at the Institute IWAR (Waste Management) at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, for more than 14 years. Furthermore, Anke Bockreis worked for several consulting companies also in the field of mechanical-biological waste treatment and monitoring of emissions.

From 2012 until 2020, she was acting as Vice Rector for Infrastructure at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

Anke Bockreis will be taking over the role of Senior-Editor-In-Chief of WM&R from Prof. Agamuthu Pariatamby, who has led the journal since 2012. The journal has seen a lot of positive developments over the past ten years, such as an increase in Open Access content and a rising impact factor, and we look forward to Anke Bockreis taking the development of WM&R further.
