Hallo allemaal, I’m Abhimanyu Chakravorty, ISWA’s Technical Communications Coordinator for EU-funded projects. I hail from Delhi, India’s bustling capital, a megacity of nearly 30 million people (about the population of Texas) and a melting pot of culinary delights. Life in Delhi is never dull, I can assure you.
With a background as a journalist, I’ve spent a decade writing about the intersections of climate change, development, and politics, while also managing digital newsrooms. In 2017, I reached a tipping point regarding the plastic waste littering my city. Multiple visits to Delhi’s towering landfills solidified my belief in the power of civic action to drive societal change, particularly in reducing single-use plastic and the throwaway culture. This led me to launch Plogga India, a grassroots initiative combining jogging with trash collection to tackle litter in public spaces.
Now, as a Technical Communications Coordinator, I’m focused on curating and implementing communication and dissemination strategies for EU projects under the Horizon Europe program. My goal is to engage and influence stakeholders and target groups, driving meaningful change towards sustainable waste management and advancing a just and inclusive circular economy.
