ISWA is delighted to welcome Waste Warriors Society as our newest Silver Member.
Waste Warriors Society is an 11-year-old non-profit organisation catalysing systemic change to solve the waste management crisis of the Indian Himalayan Region. Their work lies at the intersection of Climate Change, Biodiversity Habitat Conservation, and Informal Livelihoods through bringing behavioural change in the community. They focus on enabling better governance, addressing infrastructure and policy gaps, encouraging responsible tourism, and activating communities to co-create solutions. They promote local entrepreneurship, intending to ignite urgency in women and youth to earn their identity through dignified livelihoods.
In just the last year, Waste Warriors has impacted more than 230K+ people across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to take action for climate change. They have successfully diverted 1800+ metric tons of solid waste from landfills and created behavioural change champions through community engagement and awareness.
Their project locations include Kasauli, Dharamshala (Rural and Urban), Bir-Billing and Manali in Himachal Pradesh and Kempty (Mussoorie), Dehradun City, Sahastradhara, Muni ki Reti (Rishikesh), Govind Wildlife Sanctuary (Uttarkashi) and Corbett Tiger Reserve (Ramnagar).
