Webinar | Early Warning Report on the EU WFD and WPD targets and its implications for Member States

The European Commission has recently communicated a report to the European Parliament, Council, Economic and Social Committee, and the Committee of the regions Identifying the Member States at risk of not meeting the 2025 targets of preparing for reuse and recycling target for municipal waste, the 2025 recycling target for packaging waste and the 2025 municipal waste landfilling reduction target. These targets are those laid down In the Waste Framework Directive and the Waste Packaging Directive.

The conclusions are that most EU member states may fail to meet the recycling targets for municipal and packaging waste laid out. 18 out of 27 member states are at risk of missing one or both of the 2025. Many member states will have to increase their efforts significantly.

Given this scenario, the EU Group of ISWA is organising a webinar to present the results of this report by the main Researcher In charge of the production, as well as a discussion together with ISWA members of the countries at risk and a representative from the European Commission.
