The Working Group Healthcare Waste is part of ISWA’s 10 working groups. The next WGHCW meeting will take place in person in Cape Town during the ISWA World Congress, 16th – 18th September 2024.

The facility visit on the 18th is also open to non-working group members, though we have limited capacity. If interested, please register below.

18 September – BCL Medical Waste Management Facility and New Somerset Hospital Visit

• • 08:30: Departure from the Convention Centre for the visit to BCL site
  • 9:15 – 10:15: Tour of BCL facilities and presentation on their transition from incineration to our eco-friendly technology
  • 10:15 – 10:45: Discussion on the overall situation of medical waste in Africa (including Q&A and discussions)
  • 10:45: Departure from BCL site to the New Somerset Hospital
  • 11:30 – 12:30: Visit New Somerset Hospital Sterilization System
  • 12:30: Departure from New Somerset Hospital to Convention Centre
  • 12:45: Arrive to the Convention Centre
