Landfill
The Working Group on Landfill (WGL) focuses on the design, construction, regulation and management of landfills, both for industrial and developing nations. Management issues include operations, closure, and post-closure issues, including groundwater monitoring and testing, leachate management, landfill gas management, as well as the quantity and quality of the wastes landfilled.

René Rosendal is a partner at the consultancy company Danish Waste Solutions ApS and a Senior Project Manager at AV Miljø Landfill in Copenhagen. He has been working nearly 20 years as a waste professional within the solid waste and environmental industry in Denmark and abroad. He serves as a STC member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), the Vice-Chair of the ISWA Working Group on Landfill.

Mr Fawole is a Senior Project Manager with SCS Engineers (USA) with over 25 years of experience in solid waste engineering projects covering site and geotechnical investigations, design, management, constructability reviews, resident engineering, and construction of landfills, waste transfer stations, landfill gas systems and energy facilities.
Mr Fawole has also been involved in international project assignments with the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) in Nigeria and Angola. Other international projects, especially in Africa, include dumpsite closure designs in Nigeria as well as solid waste assignments in Ghana and Ethiopia under the USEPA and Climate and Clean Air Coalition Municipal Solid Waste (CCAC MSW) Initiatives. Mr Fawole’s roles have included the evaluation of solid waste management practices (waste collection and disposal; technical assessments of waste disposal sites, feasibility of a landfill gas project; and assistance with evaluation of a new landfill site) and technical training in integrated solid waste management.
Mr Fawole is a member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), the Working Group on Landfill, the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA), and the North America Solid Waste Association (SWANA). He is SWANA-Certified as a Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) and serves on the Advisory Board of the ISWA African Regional Chapter as Chair of the Technical Committee.
