In observance of the 11th Social Business Day 2021, we invite you to the global launch of Waste Wise Partnership (WaP) on 30th June 2021, 15.30 – 16.30 CEST.
This event will present the WaP and introduce the upcoming products that the partnership has developed. It is organized by the four WaP Founding Members: Avfall Norge, International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and Yunus Environment Hub (YEH).
Waste Wise Partnership (WaP), an initiative spearheaded by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), under the Waste Wise Cities programme (WWC), was founded with the vision of contributing to the achievement of healthier ecosystems and communities by improving MSW management in cities, and supporting them in transitioning from the current linear to a more circular economy. WaP aims to bring partners together to enhance coordination and cooperation among relevant organisations and deliver aligned products and methodologies, in relation to MSW management, to support cities and countries in establishing sustainable MSW management and a circular economy.
WaP was established in 2020 by the four founding members Avfall Norge, International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and Yunus Environment Hub (YEH).
During the launch, the WaP Founding Members will talk about the importance of coordination among the diverse entities operating in the waste management sector and the necessity to align methodologies that assess and monitor the municipal solid waste status and support the planning process for circular economy models in cities. Moreover, the event will touch upon the importance of waste management in the post-pandemic recovery process to build back better and move towards a circular production and consumption patterns.
