Waste Management in Sustainable and Smart Cities
Join ISWA’s President and Vice-President on July 1st at 2 PM CEST for a joint webinar with our member Evreka on Waste Management in Sustainable and Smart Cities
Advanced waste management is crucial in a sustainable city to ensure the overall quality of the system for citizens and the environment. Further, waste management is considered critical in a smart city to optimize resources and efficiency. In this webinar, we will talk about waste management in sustainable and smart cities.
The UN forecasts that today’s urban population of 3.2 billion will rise to nearly 5 billion by 2030. It means three out of five people will live in cities. This will impose immeasurable pressure on the infrastructure and resources of cities: in particular waste and sanitation. What’s more, the total volume of waste generated globally is expected to increase by approximately 50% already over the next decade. As known well, the majority of this increase will take place in cities. Hence, waste management will always be critical when building smarter and more sustainable cities around the world.
